Our Work

We train between eight and ten adult female students at two tailoring centers. A qualified teacher hired by the Arieh Charitable Trust (ACT) spends six hours a day with the students teaching them skills in various aspects of sewing with a special focus in the making of Indian garments. After a student completes the 6-8 month course, she appears for an exam conducted by the USHA Tailoring School International and upon passing this exam, the graduate is issued a certificate by ACT in affiliation with USHA Tailoring School International. Students who have graduated from this program have found lucrative jobs and/or are self-employed. This course is completely free of charge from the time the student enrolls until she graduates with the certificate. ACT pays for the enrolment, training and exam fees for all students.

We also have 15 workers stationed in three other districts in Kerala who do house visits and promote education amongst various communities. The workers promote best practices in hygiene, home maintenance and social behaviors during their travels.
